During the negotiations, we viewed trilateral cooperation with Georgia, and quadrilateral—with Russia, from the perspective of cooperation between Iran and Armenia in the domain of electricity.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday noted the aforementioned during his joint statement, together with visiting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia, before the media.

“In terms of cooperation in the domain of [natural] gas, we informed about the Iranian side’s readiness to increase the volumes of supplies. We are also ready to conduct trilateral cooperation to export the [Iranian natural] gas to Georgia [via Armenia],” Rouhani added. “The other topic of discussion was about connecting the Persian Gulf to the Black Sea via Armenia.

“In conclusion, I need to note that the most important point is that there is a desire, potential, will in both countries so that we develop relations.

“We [the Armenian PM and the Iranian President] gave instructions to those in charge to discuss all the matters prior to the [Armenian-Iranian] intergovernmental meeting.”
