YEREVAN. – The process of confiscating property from the owners will not apply to foreign investors, said Tigran Khachatryan, the Minister of Economic Development and Investments of Armenia, speaking with reporters on Thursday.

He noted this in response to the remark that property is being confiscated from its owners, or donations are being made to the state in recent times in Armenia, and when asked how this process will reflect on the investment climate in the country.

“It’s important for foreign investors that the state regulations be clear and transparent, the playing field—level, [and that] there will be no manifestations of corruption,” the minister said. “From that viewpoint, I believe that the phenomenon noted by you can’t refer to, or undermine that process.”

Khachatryan added that the aforesaid processes in Armenia are within the law, and they apply solely to the cases when there are certain offenses at their core.

“I believe that those businessmen and investors who know that they can’t be engaged in such matters, also have nothing to worry about,” the minister stressed, in particular.
