On 4 March, at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians received newly appointed Governor of Shirak Province Tigran Petrosyan, who was accompanied by Primate of the Shirak Diocese, Fr. Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan.

The information system of the Mother Se told NEWS.am that the Catholicos of All Armenians expressed his congratulatory remarks and gave his blessing to the governor on the occasion of his appointment.

During the meeting, the parties talked about the devastating consequences of the 1988 earthquake and the efforts that are being made to overcome those consequences.

His Holiness stated that the Mother See has always expressed solidarity with Gyumri, contributing to the solution to social issues through various programs and to the development of cultural life.

The newly appointed governor stated that he considered it an honor to be at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin as an Armenian and as a Christian Armenian. He presented the problems of Shirak Province and the current challenges, touched upon the perspectives for development of the province and attached importance to cooperation with the Armenian Church in that regard.
