The European Union (EU) does not put a matter of geopolitical orientation before Armenia.

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, on Monday said about the aforementioned while responding to the queries posed by those in attendance, after his address at the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs, in Brussels. He stated this when asked about Armenia’s cooperation with both Russia and the EU.

In his words, the agenda of Armenia’s cooperation with the EU is wholly aimed at implementation of reforms.

But Pashinyan added that Armenia’s cooperation with Russia is very important, since they continue to be strategic partners.

Also, he expressed a belief that there are no and there cannot be any inconsistencies in Armenia’s relations with Russia and the EU, and these relations are transparent.

Furthermore, the premier considered it important to stress that Armenia’s rapprochement with the EU does not imply any conspiracy against Russia.

Nikol Pashinyan added that cooperation in energy sector is extremely important to Armenia, and the latter plans to develop it with Russia and Iran, alike.
