Nothing can be concealed since there are trials, as well as oversight of preliminary investigation bodies over those trials. This is what Armenia’s Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan told journalists at Yerablour Military Pantheon on 5 March as he touched upon NEWS.am’s question on why the Ministry of Defense had, in the course of this year, concealed the deaths of 4 servicemen, the names of which were published in the presses.

“Who says the names were concealed? There are simply incidents that are directly linked to the adversary and to military service. The Ministry of Defense always announces about the death of a serviceman, even if he wasn’t shot,” the Minister highlighted.

What is noteworthy is the fact that, in this regard, Spokesman of the Ministry of Defense Artsrun Hovhannisyan has stated that the Ministry has not reported on the incidents not linked to military service, but the information has been reported in this or that way and the Ministry has confirmed it.

Earlier, NEWS.am had reported that, according to Tert.am, servicemen had died in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia and in the Defense Army of the Republic of Artsakh in the course of nearly two months, yet the Ministry of Defense and the Defense Army had not reported any information about that.

The Prosecutor General’s Office has informed Tert.am that, in the mentioned period, 3 deaths linked to military service were recorded in the Armed Forces and the Defense Army, and 4 deaths were recorded in circumstances not linked to military service.
