YEREVAN. – Cargo transportation in Armenia has dropped 67.8% this January, as compared with January of last year, and totaled 901,300 tons.

According to the Statistical Committee, railway freight transportation, however, recorded a 9.5% increase in January 2019, and made up 219,000 tons.

Also 185,500 tons of natural gas was supplied to Armenia in January, and this is 4% more than the respective indicator for January 2018.

The volume of Armenia’s cargo transportation by air did not change this January, and totaled 900 tons.

But freight turnover dropped 10.6% in January 2019, and made up 377,200,000 tons/km.

In addition, passenger transportation decreased by 1.4% in January of the current year, as compared with January of last year, and totaled 13,960,000 people. Passenger transport via automobiles dropped 3.3%, whereas that via railway went up 12.6%, by means of air—by 12.2%, and by electric transport—by 11.7%.

Armenia’s passenger traffic, however, declined by 3.7% in January 2019, and comprised 177,500,000 passengers/km.
