168 Hours newspaper writes: “Yesterday Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan left for Artsakh where the National Security Council of Armenia will hold a session, among the participants of which will be the leadership of Nagorno-Karabakh. Although there is no official information on the agenda, it is clear that the need for such an urgent session emerged after the latest statement made by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.

With this statement, the Minsk Group Co-Chairs have not addressed any party, but have responded to Nikol Pashinyan’s statements on bringing Artsakh back to the negotiation process, viewing them as inadmissible attempts to unilaterally change the format of negotiations.

After this statement, Armenia’s leadership has, in essence, found itself in a labyrinth. On the one hand, Nikol Pashinyan can’t refuse his own statement on bringing Artsakh back to the negotiation process, and on the other hand, he can’t directly participate in the negotiations during which the issue of Artsakh’s participation is not going to be discussed.

It is these issues that have compelled Nikol Pashinyan to hold an outgoing and extraordinary session of the National Security Council in Artsakh. What message will be conveyed to Azerbaijan and the co-chairing countries based on the results of the session? The answer to this question will be clear today. However, we should not rule out the fact that this is an attempt to leave a certain impression that Artsakh is indirectly participating in the negotiation process prior to the meeting with Aliyev and to substantiate the meeting with Aliyev by leaving this impression”.
