There have always been doubts about Iran’s intentions to create a nuclear weapon, and they have grown deeper. Iran doesn’t want to work openly, and this is why it is sanctioned. This causes a blow to Iran and its partners. This is what Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Gohar Iskandaryan declared during discussions on “Iran and the Changing World Order”.

The expert stated that Armenia’s relations with Iran have always grown since Armenia’s declaration of independence. The Armenian authorities have always attached major importance to those relations, but the same can’t be said for Iran, which has more preferable countries, even though the country’s relations with Armenia remain a part of Iran’s diplomatic agenda.

Armenia’s new government had initially talked about the need to deepen relations with Iran. According to Gohar Iskandaryan, the driving force of the relations between the two countries is power generators, but the emphasis is currently on the IT sector and tourism.

Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union and the Union’s ties with Iran will contribute to the deepening of cooperation and the growth of the trade turnover. As far as the sanctions against Iranian organizations are concerned, the expert believes it isn’t worth crossing the red line and doing anything that might hurt Armenia.
