Premier Nikol Pashinyan touched upon the 3 principles and the 6 elements, and he was very clear in his statement. He was referring to the varying interpretations, and it was stated that Armenia’s goal is not to get into a dispute over the language, but to specify the two parties’ approaches in terms of perception and interpretation of the 3 principles and the 6 elements. This is what Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Zohrab Mnatsakanyan stated during a March 13 press conference, touching upon the speech that Armenia’s Premier gave yesterday during the session of the National Security Council in Stepanakert where he talked about the need to specify the Madrid Principles.

When asked whether the ramshackle negotiation process would be in a deadlock or not in the case of revision of the Madrid Principles, Mnatsakanyan said the following: “I believe the Premier gave a more powerful impulse, stating that we need to work on ruling out approaches and perceptions that make the package unilateral and cause a problem in terms of perceptions. The Premier touched upon this very clearly. I hope we can read it once again and understand that the main emphasis is on the extent to which the disputes over the use of language can be ruled out in regard to this package.”
