Premier Nikol Pashinyan received Co-Rapporteurs of the PACE Monitoring Committee for Armenia Yulia Lyovochkina and Andrej Šircelj, Secretary of the PACE Monitoring Committee Alexis Salanson and Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan Natalia Vutova.

The Premier attached importance to the monitoring of the PACE from the perspective of strengthening of democracy in Armenia and emphasized the need for close cooperation with the Council of Europe. Nikol Pashinyan highly appreciated the PACE observation mission’s active participation in the snap parliamentary elections held in Armenia.

The Premier touched upon the Armenian government’s priorities, particularly the reforms in the fight against corruption, independence of the judiciary, ensuring of rule of law, human rights protection, modernization of the system of governance and improvement of the Electoral Code.

The Co-Rapporteurs congratulated Nikol Pashinyan on holding high-level democratic elections and emphasized that the elections fully reflected the will of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia. They expressed certainty that implementation of the Armenian government’s agenda for pretentious and comprehensive reforms would bring a new sweep to the development and strengthening of democracy in the country.

The interlocutors attached importance to partnership and active dialogue in all the mentioned directions. Pashinyan stated that he attaches special importance to the cooperation with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

During the meeting, at the request of the Co-Rapporteurs, Nikol Pashinyan also touched upon the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and other regional issues.
