Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Armenia to the Council of Europe Paruyr Hovhannisyan has submitted a recommendation to name a square after the Council of Europe or Europe in the Small Center of Yerevan.

The issue will be put up for discussion during the March 19 session of the Council of Elders of Yerevan. The year 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Council of Europe (CoE). To make this anniversary visible and memorable, the Secretariat of the Council of Europe has developed a plan of proposals for organizing anniversary events in Strasbourg and member states of the Council of Europe.

For this purpose, during its session of 20 June 2018, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe particularly recommended naming any street, square, garden or grove in the member states after the Council of Europe on the occasion of the organization’s 70th anniversary.
