A collection of art, minerals, and precious stones belonging to late American Armenian businessman and philanthropist Gerard Cafesjian has been sold at Bonhams auction house in Los Angeles.

The main lot among the 100 respective from the estate of Cafesjian was an illuminated/automated musical gemstone and gold carousel by Andreas von Zadora-Gerlof. This work was completed in 1991, and it was sold at the auction for $262,575.

Another lot from Cafesjian’s estate, a ruby, granite and gold eagle sculpture, was sold for more than $62,000.

Gerard Cafesjian, who died in 2013 aged 88, has left behind a huge collection of artwork, jewelry, and precious stones; part of this collection is at the Cafesjian Center for the Arts, in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan.
