The US President Donald Trump vetoed a congressional resolution to repeal his decree proclaiming a state of emergency at the US-Mexico border, CNBC reported.

Lawmakers, including 12 Republicans, vetoed the resolution on Thursday.

The Congress will now need two thirds of a majority in both houses to reject the veto, but this is unlikely to happen.

The state of emergency at the US-Mexican border was announced by the president in order to obtain financing for the construction of a wall at the border of both countries.
