On 18 March, Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Zohrab Mnatsakanyan received Assistant Administrator, Regional Director for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Mirjana Spoljaric.

As reported the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to NEWS.am, welcoming Mirjana Spoljaric’s first visit to Armenia, Minister Mnatsakanyan attached importance to the activities that the UNDP has been carrying out in Armenia for more than a quarter of a century and highly appreciated the ongoing multifaceted cooperation within the scope of the UNDP.

Armenia’s foreign minister reaffirmed Armenia’s willingness to take steps to strengthen and expand the partnership for nationalization and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in Armenia. Touching upon the interior political developments in Armenia and the reforms that the government is implementing on the basis of the wide mandate of the people, Minister Mnatsakanyan attached great importance to the effective cooperation with international partners, including the UNDP.

The interlocutors outlined Armenia’s development agenda and the scope of partnership with the UNDP for promoting an economy based on information technologies, innovation and creative education.

Mnatsakanyan also talked about the preparations for the 23rd World Congress on Information Technology to be held in Yerevan in October 2019.

At the end of the meeting, Spoljaric delivered to Minister Mnatsakanyan the letter of UNDP Executive Director Achim Steiner on appointing Dmitri Mariyasin UNDP Resident Coordinator in Armenia.
