YEREVAN. – Armenia is ready for exchange of stranded citizens with Azerbaijan, PM Nikol Pashnyan said during a press conference on Tuesday.

Pashinyan recalled that there was a practice of returning the citizens who had illegally crossed the border. However, it was stopped after a known incident when three saboteurs crossed the border and killed two people, including an underage boy.

“We are ready to exchange stranded persons,” Pashinyan said.

He added that stranded citizen of Armenia who was presented as a saboteur (Karen Ghazaryan) was sentenced to 20 years in jail by Azerbaijan.

As for an Azerbaijani citizen who crossed the border the other day, PM said investigators are clarifying whether he went astray or he is a saboteur.

“It is critically important whether a person killed someone or not. If a person did not kill anyone, we are ready to discuss the matter,” Pashinyan added.
