US Special Counsel Robert Mueller has not found evidence of collusion between Donald Trump and Russia during the 2016 US presidential campaign, RIA Novosti reported citing a statement by the US Department of Justice (DoJ).

Based on the Mueller report, US Attorney General William Barr stated that there is not enough evidence of obstruction of the probe into his campaign, the department added.

It also said that Trump’s campaign team had nothing to do with hacking of the US Democratic Party during the 2016 election campaign. The DoJ noted that Mueller asserted that hackers linked to Russian authorities had carried this out.

Also, the Special Counsel stated that “while this report does not conclude that the president committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him” on obstruction of justice.

The US Attorney General will decide on whether to publicize the new report by Mueller when he becomes convinced that it does not contradict the law.

Russian presidential spokesperson spokesman Dmitry Peskov reacted to the Mueller report’s summary release by saying that the Kremlin had not seen the results of the investigation into alleged Russian meddling into the 2016 presidential election.

Russia has repeatedly denied interfering in the election.
