The Chair of the State Council and the Council of Ministers of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel received the Prince Charles and his spouse on Monday evening during the first official British royal visit to the Caribbean island, RIA Novosti reported.

According to photos published by the radio portal Cubana, Diaz-Canel and Prince Charles together walked around the guard of honor for a solemn meeting following their trip to Havana and unveiled a monument to William Shakespeare.

Earlier, Diaz-Canel has already tweeted on the royal family historical trip to the Caribbean island.

As reported earlier, Prince of Wales Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall Camilla, arrived in Cuba for a historic visit. The royal couple was met by Cuba's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ana Gonzalez. Prince Charles and Cornwall became the first members of the royal family to arrive in Cuba.
