YEREVAN. – The Deputy Prosecutor General of Armenia, Davit Melkonyan, on Monday received a delegation from the World Bank (WB).

First, he praised the programs being implemented in Armenia jointly with the WB, the Prosecutor General’s Office informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Subsequently, they discussed, in particular, the planned cooperation programs with the Prosecutor General’s Office, and the introduction of new criminal justice institutes and procedures in Armenia—and which are in line with European standards.

The WB representatives asked about the results of combating corruption in Armenia. The deputy attorney general responded that in 2018, the country’s law enforcement agencies had achieved unprecedented results in the fight against corruption. Melkonyan added that the Prosecutor General’s Office was actively engaged in increasing the effectiveness of the anticorruption crusade in Armenia. 

The parties conferred also on several other matters of mutual interest.
