While being a member state of the Eurasian Economic Union, Armenia also manages to broaden and deepen its relations with the European Union. This is what Head of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung/Foundation Regional Office Thomas Schrapel said during the March 26 event entitled “Armenia on the Road to Europe”. The event was organized by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung/Foundation of the Christian-Democratic Party of the Federal Republic of Germany on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Foundation’s activities in Armenia.

According to Thomas Schrapel, Armenia has been leading a very sensible foreign policy over the past years. “Of course, some see discrepancies, stating the European Union on the one hand and the Eurasian Economic Union on the other. We representatives of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung/Foundation don’t see discrepancies. We are more than certain that the combination is under the principle of “both”, not “either…or”,” he stated.

Schrapel emphasized that it is important for Armenia to have a wise and sensible foreign policy due to its special geopolitical position.
