Armenia’s Minister of Economic Development and Investments Tigran Khachatryan received the delegation led by UNDP Deputy Resident Representative Dmitry Mariyasin.

As reported the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments to NEWS.am, Dmitry Mariyasin recommended discussing a broad agenda of issues in the field of coordination of the ministry and said it was necessary to organize meetings with the team of the ministry more frequently since the ministry must become one of the major partners of the UNDP.

At the request of the guests, Minister Tigran Khachatryan presented the economic priorities and long-term goals of the Armenian government’s five-year program and addressed the prospective spheres of the economy with greater potential for development.

The UNDP Deputy Resident Representative mentioned that he agreed with the minister and set the issue of raising productivity as a priority.

Tigran Khachatryan discussed the opportunities for cooperation in the development of tourism with the delegation of the UNDP.

The activities of the UNDP for the development of rural and regional tourism were also presented, and the main emphasis was on the initiatives to engage the local population in the processes. The parties also addressed the role of the State Tourism Committee of Armenia in the development of regional tourism centers.

An agreement was reached to address certain sector-specific programs through regular discussions, as well as get acquainted with and discuss the perspectives for the development of certain regional programs.
