On 29 March, His Holiness Catholicos Aram I of the Armenian Church, Holy See of Cilicia will arrive in Aleppo to perform the reconsecration of the the Forty Martyrs Cathedral, reports the Facebook page of the Holy See of Cilicia.
It has been announced that Catholicos Aram I will have several meetings during his four-day visit.
Built in the 15th century, the Cathedral is considered the oldest church in the Armenian community of Aleppo and belongs to the Aleppo Diocese, which is the second largest and oldest diocese of the Holy See of Cilicia.
Renovation of the church, which was seriously damaged during the years of the Syrian conflict, was launched in May 2018.
