On 5 April, Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan received outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Armenia Petr Mikyska.

As the National Assembly told Armenian News-NEWS.am, the head of parliament highly appreciated the ambassador’s nearly seven-year diplomatic activities in Armenia and stated that the current level of close cooperation between Armenia and the Czech Republic is also the result of his efforts.

Mirzoyan attached importance to further expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation at different levels and in different formats. It was stated that the close political ties need to be strengthened through active partnership in other sectors, particularly culture and economy. The parties also touched upon the reforms underway in Armenia following the revolution.

The head of the legislature valued Petr Mikyska’s efforts for ratification of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement and voiced hope that the Agreement would be ratified soon. In his turn, the ambassador assured that the ratification is in full swing in the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Senate upon ratification by the Senate.

Petr Mikyska talked about the activities that he has carried out for the strengthening of Armenian-Czech relations during his term and assured that he would make his contributions to the development of the bilateral relations through his future activities as well. He informed that he was going to continue his diplomatic activities in Georgia and assured that he wouldn’t miss the opportunity to visit Yerevan again, adding that Yerevan has become close to his heart.
