We welcome the Italian Chamber of Deputies’ adoption of the initiative on recognizing Armenian Genocide.
Armenia’s Ambassador to Italy, Victoria Bagdassarian, stated about the aforesaid speaking on the occasion of the adoption of this initiative.
The ambassador also thanked all the political forces that are represented in the Italian Chamber of Deputies for their support to this initiative.
“Paying tribute to the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims, the Chamber of Deputies stressed that what was carried out against Armenians a century ago in the Ottoman Empire is genocide, and called on the Italian government to officially recognize Armenian Genocide and to give it an international voice,” the ambassador added. “With this step, the Italian side reaffirmed its allegiance to universal values, and contributed to the road to the prevention of genocides and crimes against humanity.”
