Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland praised Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for what had happened in Armenia, namely peaceful and democratic transition based on the Constitution.

During a joint press conference in Strasbourg, Jagland recalled that the Council of Europe was heavily involved in working out the Constitution, and they “are pleased to see that it has worked”.

Jagland commended Armenian PM for moving forward rapidly with reforms in particular in judiciary, and assured thatthe Council of Europe stands ready to assist.

“We have recently adopted a new action plan for Armenia for 2020, which is a broad action plan” he added.

 Secretary Gneral assured that they will work together to bring Armenia forward to strengthen institutions.

“It is absolutely clear that Armenia is a European country, rooted in European history and values,” he resumed.
