The Permanent Representative of Armenia to the United Nations (UN), Mher Margaryan, on Thursday attended the UN Security Council meeting devoted to UN peacekeeping operations and women in peacekeeping.

In his address, Margaryan noted that the Armenian government attaches a particular importance to the promotion of women’s engagement in all domains of public life.

Noting that the increasing of women’s participation in peacekeeping operations is one of Armenia’s priorities in the reforms which the country’s armed forces are carrying out, he presented the steps which Armenia is taking toward increasing the number of women peacekeepers in the country’s military units that partake in international peacekeeping operations.

Also, Ambassador Margaryan recalled Armenia’s national action plan for the implementation of the provisions of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.
