Armenia’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Development Suren Papikyan today received residents of Artsvashen village. Governor of Gegharkunik Province Gnel Sanosyan also attended the meeting.

As reported the press service of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development of the Republic of Armenia to Armenian News-NEWS.am, listening to the residents’ concerns and problems, Minister Suren Papikyan stated that the government doesn’t question the special status that the residents of Artsvashen gained after the military operations of 8 August 1992 and the forceful displacement from their village.

The minister also informed that the government will provide funding to improve social and economic infrastructures and is planning on building primary school #1 through a seismic safety improvement program.

Taking into consideration the residents’ concerns about apartments on the verge of collapse, the minister assigned the governor to set up a task force that will explore the social and housing conditions of the residents of Artsvashen residing in Tchambarak and inventorize the apartments in need of fortification.
