STEPANAKERT. – The Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic/NKR) Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman), Artak Beglaryan, on Friday received Sweden’s Lund University lecturer and Genocide Studies specialist, Dr. Svante Lundgren.

First, the Ombudsman welcomed Lundgren’s decision to get familiarized with the history of Artsakh and peculiarities of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the office of the Artsakh Human Rights Defender informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Subsequently, Beglaryan briefly presented the functions of the Ombudsman, the state of human rights in Artsakh, and the manifestations of Azerbaijan’s policy of Armenophobia.

Lundgren, in turn, expressed his support to the freedom-seeking struggle by the people of Artsakh, and underscored the need for a pacific settlement of the Karabakh conflict and a proper international attention toward Azerbaijan’s policy of Armenophobia.

After the meeting, Svante Lundgren delivered a lecture to a group of students and faculty at Artsakh State University.
