The International Monetary Fund (IMF) stands ready to assist the reforms proposed by the Armenian government.

Jihad Azour, the Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the IMF, told about the aforementioned to the Voice of America Armenian Service.

In his words, the Government of Armenia will propose to the IMF a five-year strategic cooperation program that will be based on two pillars: A tax reform program, which will make taxes in the country more transparent and simpler for businessmen; and, an increase in the private sector’s part in and investments to Armenia’s economy.

Stressing the respective steps which the country is taking, Azour also recalled the need for continuing the reforms in Armenia.
