The possible deployment of S-400s in the territory of Azerbaijan may pose a political threat to Armenia. This is what Armenia’s first Ombudsman and leader of the Against Legal Arbitrariness NGO Larisa Alaverdyan said during an April 18 press conference.

According to her, both Ankara and Baku say it is likely that Turkey’s S-400s be deployed in territory of Azerbaijan. “International law prohibits such operations, even if the deployment is temporary. In addition, there are no relative statements by international organizations, including the Collective Security Treaty Organization,” she stated.

The analyst clarified that the possible deployment of the missile system in Nakhichevan and the absence of evaluations of international organizations attest to the existence of political threats posed to Armenia.
