Institution of criminal cases based on information about the pregnancies of three juveniles has been rejected. This is what Head of the Department for Juvenile Rights Protection and the Fight against Domestic Violence of the General Department of Criminal Intelligence of the Police of the Republic of Armenia, Colonel Nelly Duryan wrote on her Facebook page.

“Recently, there is news about the pregnancies of three juveniles being posted on social media websites. The Police has prepared reports based on the facts. As a result, it turned out that all three juveniles are married, and the relatives of both sides attended their wedding ceremonies. It also turned out that the three juveniles had sexual intercourse after attaining the age of 16. Thus, the elements of Article 141 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (sexual intercourse with a person not having attained the age of 16 or committal of actions of sexual nature against a person not having attained the age of 16) are missing in all three cases. Decisions have been rendered to reject institution of the criminal case based on the prepared report,” she wrote.

On April 17, deputy of the Bright Armenia faction of the National Assembly Gevorg Gorgisyan declared that schoolteachers had recently testified and told how three schoolgirls had gotten pregnant during class.
