The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia has received over 1 million phone calls in the past six months. This is what Minister of Emergency Situations Felix Tsolakyan informed during an April 19 press conference.

According to him, the ministry receives over 2 million phone calls every year. However, the minister stated that not all of those 2 million phone calls are calls about an emergency. There are only about 18-20,000 reports on an emergency situation, while the remaining phone calls are about the weather, and sometimes people call by mistake. The number of phone calls depends on the weather and season.

In the past six months, the country has recorded 2,200 fires, 29 rock falls, 4 dozens of collapses and 2 landslides. The minister said the level of preparedness of the Ministry of Emergency Situations allows Armenia to extend a helping hand to its neighboring countries and recalled that Armenia extended a helping hand to Iran, which was devastated by the recent flood.
