The Eurasian Union should become a full-fledged economic union with equal conditions for its participants, Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko said in the National Assembly, BelTA reported.

According to him, Belarus is not interested in integration for the sake of integration.

“We are counting on the achievement of specific goals that will give a tangible result for the economies and peoples of our countries. The Eurasian Union should become a full-fledged economic union with equal conditions for its participants. Solving this task will be a priority for our chairmanship in this organization in 2020,” BelTA reported referring to Lukashenko.

According to him, Belarus is ready to play a more significant role of a trade channel for the multi-million dollar market of the Eurasian Economic Union and the CIS countries with the European Union

Speaking about the priorities of foreign policy in the East, he noted that efforts there are aimed at actively participating in integration associations in the post-Soviet space. Belarus invariably follows the course taken to create a Union State 20 years ago. Among the priorities, Alexander Lukashenko named cooperation in the CIS, noting that for many of its member countries this is actually the only platform not only for trade, but also political dialogue.
