The US is ready to support the Armenian leadership in the implementation of democratic reforms in the country, the US ambassador to Armenia, Lynne Tracy said on Friday within the launch of the School of Local Democracy in Armenia.

According to her, there is a transition period in Armenia, while the youth played the crucial role in the changes.

She noted that there is a long way to go to validate the achievements that were recorded last year.

The US ambassador noted that she was encouraged to see such a large number of young people who are eager to take an active part in the development of their communities so that the efforts of the municipal authorities would serve to fulfill their expectations.

According to her, the school of local democracy will help to master such abilities that will allow young people to become leaders of their generation.

As reported earlier, the school of local democracy was opened on April 19 in the village of Aghveran, Armenia’s Kotayk region. The initiative is funded by USAID (United States Agency for International Development).
