Armenia was importing products from Georgia, but Ararat Cement Factory showed that even though it might suffer losses, it will hurt the Georgian market. This is what leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party Gagik Tsarukyan told journalists at the National Assembly on 19 April, responding to the question how is it that Ararat Cement Factory sells cement for a much cheaper price in Georgia.

“We have shown that we can suffer losses for a couple of years. We’re not going to close shop. Each person wants his business to grow. Now Iran is exporting cement. Go and ask people if Iranian cement is cheap. Gas and electricity are expensive in Armenia. Let the government subsidize gas and electricity,” he said.
