A Turkish court has upheld the claim of the Surp Nigogayos Armenian Church in the Beykoz district of Istanbul against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

According to the Turkish Beykozguncel, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality had taken a part of the territory belonging to Surp Nigogayos Armenian Church for road construction without compensation and agreement.

The Church’s Foundation had filed a claim against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. The court upheld the claim and bound the municipality to pay 24 million Liras ($5 million) to the Armenian Church.
