The attorneys of former Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Armen Gevorgyan have addressed Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan to restore the violated rights of Armen Gevorgyan, report Armen Gevorgyan’s attorneys.

The extensive letter states that imposition of attachment on all the assets of Armen Gevorgyan is a violation of his rights. “We find that the imposition by criminal prosecution bodies of an attachment on all the assets of Armen Gevorgyan has disproportionately restricted his right of ownership guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia and the European Convention; thus, in addition to the instrumentation reserved by criminal procedure law, a need has emerged to address the Ombudsman to perform relevant actions to restore the violated fundamental rights of Armen Gevorgyan.” The letter also states that the attorneys don’t understand why an attachment has been imposed on all the assets of Armen Gevorgyan.

Armen Gevorgyan is charged under point 2 of part 4 of Article 311 (receipt by an official of a bribe in particularly large amounts), point 1 of part 3 of Article 190 (money-laundering committed in particularly large amounts) and part 1 of Articles 38-300.1 (assisting in overthrow of constitutional order) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
