A secret vote is held in the Armenian parliament on Monday on the election of Gegham Gevorgyan to the post of new chair of State Commission for Protection of Economic Competition.

Gevorgyan’s candidacy is supported by the ruling My Step bloc, which has an absolute majority of votes in the parliament.

The opposition Bright Armenia Party voted against Gevorgyan's candidacy. According to them, the candidate proposed by the Armenian Prime Minister does not have enough experience in such high positions.

According to the head of the opposition party Edmon Marukyan, the candidate is not entitled to take office even by law.
