Partial results suggest that prominent economist Gitanas Nausėda topped the first round of the presidential election in Lithuania, followed by former Finance Minister Ingrida Šimonytė, BBC reported.

The pair will face each other in a runoff, which is due to take place on May 26.

And Incumbent Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis said he will step down after failing to qualify for the second round.
