US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is on his first visit to Russia to hold talks with President Vladimir Putin and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, RIA Novosti reported.

Pompeo went to negotiate with Lavrov, and in the evening the heads of the foreign ministries of the two countries will go to meet with Putin.

The talks agenda includes bilateral relations, strategic stability and disarmament issues, the situation in Venezuela, Syria, Ukraine and the Korean Peninsula, as well as the crisis around the Iranian nuclear deal. The parties may affect the possibility of meeting the leaders of Russia and US in June in Japanese Osaka on the margins of the G20 summit.
