From May 13 to 15, the multiethnic control group of the Federal Republic of Germany led by Head of the Arms Control Center of the Federal Republic of Germany, brigade general Brownstein is in the Republic of Armenia to oversee the reduction of military equipment in the premises of one of the armored equipment renovation bases of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, reports the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.

The control group approved the compatibility of the partial dismantling of 21 units of armored equipment with the requirements of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) and the termination of the activities.

The process is being implemented within the scope of the NATO Trust Fund, through technical assistance and funding of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The next stages of the program envisage the disintegration and international sale of destructible armored equipment in line with international standards and the gearing of financial resources to the implementation of anti-mine awareness-raising  and other humanitarian programs for the population.
