None of the four nominated candidates for the post of European Parliament head was able to gain an absolute majority of votes, in connection with which the second round of voting was announced.

A total of 662 votes were counted. The best result was demonstrated by the Italian candidate David Sassoli, gaining 325 votes, which is less than 50% + 1 vote, necessary for winning the first round, TASS reported.
