Germany’s Minister of Defense Ursula von der Leyen has announced about her intention to resign and will be running for President of the European Commission, as reported DW.

Her nomination has to be confirmed by the European Parliament.

According to von der Leyen, she is planning on resigning on July 17 whether her nomination is approved by the European Commission or not.
