The meeting on the Iranian deal held in Vienna on July 28 did not give Iran any guarantees of its interests, said an official representative of the Iranian MFA Abbas Mousavi.

According to Mousavi, Iran is not sure about the effectiveness of the European efforts to preserve the deal.

He noted Tehran would demand the launch and normal functioning of the European mechanism of settlements with Iran INSTEX, TASS reported.

The meeting on the Iranian deal at the level of political directors took place on Sunday in Vienna against the background of Tehran’s steps to reduce commitments and exacerbate the situation in the Persian Gulf. Based on its results, the parties agreed to hold a new ministerial meeting soon.

The EU announced the launch of the INSTEX settlement mechanism with Iran during the previous meeting on a nuclear deal at the level of political directors on June 28. On July 17, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted that transactions worth several million dollars had passed through INSTEX, although this is negligible. At the end of the Sunday meeting, the Iranian side said that the mechanism created by the Europeans had not yet started working.
