The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia has revealed a case of demanding and receiving a large amount of a bribe on the part of employees of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia through operational intelligence measures undertaken within the scope of implementation of the functions of the Service aimed at combating corruption, as reported the press center of the National Security Service.

Based on the initial data obtained, while carrying out operational intelligence measures, employees of the Investigation and Operational Intelligence Department of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia presented non-argumented demands from the director of a company dealing with the import and sale of diamonds to organize the turnover of sale mainly with invoices, and if not, they threatened to implement test measures, creating, in essence, intolerable conditions.

In relation to the prima facie crime, the Investigation Department of the National Security Service of Armenia has instituted a criminal case under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Armenia.

Preliminary investigation is underway.
