Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan on Monday received the newly appointed Czech ambassador, Bedřich Kopecký.

Congratulating the ambassador on the start of his diplomatic mission in Armenia, Avinyan noted that the Czech Republic is one of Armenia’s trusted partners. The deputy PM added that the established high-level political ties between the two countries create a solid basis for the development of their cooperation

Ambassador Kopecký, for his part, assured that he will spare no efforts to bring Armenian-Czech relations to a new level.

The parties shared the view that there is considerable untapped potential in trade and economy between the two countries, and said steps should be taken to intensify bilateral economic ties.

The interlocutors reflected also on EU-Armenia relations and their cooperation within the framework of the EU Eastern Partnership. Tigran Avinyan noted that given the enormous positive changes that have taken place in Armenia, the latter’s Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement with the EU now takes on a new meaning.

During their meeting they also discussed the matter of Armenia’s visa liberalization with the EU.
