The guarantee of consolidation around second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan is the economic growth that was recorded during his ten-year term of office, and there are many people who are expecting his return. This is what former deputy of the Prosperous Armenia faction of the National Assembly of Armenia Stepan Margaryan told journalists today.

According to him, members of Armenian society have started forming an alternative to the authorities, and Robert Kocharyan is not the only one. “We’re currently living in the past. Armenia doesn’t have resources to tolerate the situation of the judiciary for a long time. There has never been such pressure on courts,” he stated.

According to him, the case filed against Judge Davit Grigoryan is just one of the attempts of usurpation of power since this was preceded by the seizure of the parliament on October 2, 2018, the blockade of courts and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s statements that no judge will dare to disobey him. “As a result of all this, Armenia has a parliament that doesn’t play a role in society, is fully under control and doesn’t reflect the expectations of the population,” he said.

Margaryan mentioned that Robert Kocharyan also states his plans and mentions the time periods for taking action. “We can expect to see processes in the fall. This is very important, taking into consideration the fact that there is no political opposition in parliament. Kocharyan will play a huge role in shaping the opposition with a plan. In such conditions, it’s not worth waiting for investments,” the former MP stated.
