YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd (People) daily has learned that after the disgraceful case of leaving Armenian citizens stranded at Hurghada airport in Egypt, tourism organizations operating in the Republic of Armenia (RA) are now at the focus of the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC), the newspaper reported.

“The SCPEC informed the daily that they have started conducting inspections at tour companies.

“Inspections are carried out also at the A & R Tour company which put the people in such a situation.

“Time will tell what shortcomings and violations the commission will detect. But let us note that the RA Police General (6th) Department for Fight against Organized Crime is preparing a report on the activities of the A & R Armenian tour operator which organizes tours to Hurghada.

“Let us add that the [Armenian] government has allocated a total of 47.1 million [approx.. $98,500] drams to have the RA citizens remaining in Hurghada return to Armenia,” Zhoghovurd wrote.
