Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who is on a working visit to Kyrgyzstan, today attended a regular meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.

The Prime Minister of Armenia, as head of the country currently chairing the EAEU organizations, delivered an opening address.

He expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev, for the traditional warm welcome and hospitality, as well as for the high organization of today's meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.

According to him, at the meeting in a narrow composition, the sides have already exchanged views and decided on conceptual issues related to today's agenda.

Regarding the regulation of the alcohol market, PM considers it necessary to note that the EAEU member states advocate removing barriers in this sector of the economy, he said adding that it is a priority for Armenia and has wide export opportunities in the markets of the Eurasian Economic Union.

We consider it important to achieve a final decision on the distribution of import customs tariffs between the budgets of the EEU member states, he said highlighting the importance of the creation of a common EAEU financial market.

According to him, Armenia attaches great importance to ensuring that the subjects of our countries working in the agricultural sector have generalized information on the demand and supply of agricultural products in the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union. This sector of the Armenian economy has wide opportunities for expanding exports and is a priority for the Armenian government.

Pashinyan also referred to his July’s visits in Vietnam and Singapore and noted that Armenia paid special attention to the issues of cooperation between EEU and both countries.

According to him, the sides discussed the possibility of expanding trade and economic cooperation, and in particular, the issue of signing a free trade agreement between the EAEU and Singapore.

In accordance with the agreements with the heads of the EEU member states, Armenian PM also invited the Iranian President to participate in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, which will be held in Yerevan, Pashinyan added.

The participants discussed issues on the distribution of import customs tariffs between the budgets of the EEU member states, the development of the EEU common financial market, the creation of a common alcohol market within the EAEU, the creation of cross-border companies, cross-border information interaction, cooperation in the field of industrial cooperation and technology transfer, signing of the draft and the development of agriculture in the union.

Following the meeting, a number of documents were signed.

The Concept of creating a common financial market for the EEU is expected to be signed on October 1 as part of a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Yerevan.

It was decided to hold the next meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on October 25, 2019, in Moscow.

Then, with the participation of the Heads of Government of the EAEU Member States and the chair of the EEC Tigran Sargsyan, a stamp cancellation ceremony was held dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Eurasian Economic Union.
