Head of the initiating group for the election of the Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople Khosrov Koledavitoglu and deputy head Sarkis Cavusian met with Turkish Minister of Internal Affairs Suleyman Soylu and other high-ranking officials in Ankara.

As reported Istanbul’s Armenian Agos newspaper, head of the initiating group Khosrov Koledavitoglu informed that the meetings with the internal affairs minister and the others were good meetings that can be viewed as the first steps for the election of the Armenian Patriarch.

On March 8, 2019, the 84th Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople Mesrop Mutafyan passed away, after which Bishop Sahag Mashalian was elected Patriarchal Vicar. Later, an initiating group to organize and coordinate the elections was set up, and Khosrov Koledavitoglu became head of the group.
