Germany intends to pass a law prohibiting the use of plastic bags, since voluntary agreements with retailers have not yielded good enough results, said the Minister of the Environment Svenja Schulze.

“My ministry will get a plastic bag ban on its way,” Reuters reported quoting the minister.

The EU will ban the use of certain plastic products, including straws, forks, and knives since 2021.
